 The cell is semi-autonomous , in that it is capable of partial independent existence, when brought out of the body and placed in a special environment (e.g physiological solution). The cell survives outside the body because it has cell organelles (functional units) such as:

  • Mitochondria : it is the power house of the cell that produces Adenosine triphosphate (ATP). It is also involved in cell division and growth.
  • NUCLEUS: It controls the metabolic activities of the cell as well as gene expression.
  • CELL MEMBRANE : It protect the cell from external forces, by regulating the movement of substances in and out of the cells.
  • EXCRETORY VESICLE: The detached part of the golgi apparatus, helps the cell to excrete waste products from the cell.
  • RIBOSOME: A vesicle for protein synthesis
  • LYSOSOME: for detoxification
