QUESTION 22

DESCRIBE IN FULL, THE CELL NUCLEUS AS A CELL ORGANELLE AND THE RELEVANCE OF CELL NUCLEUS TO SURVIVAL OF AN ORGANISM

It is the largest and a spherical organelle of the cell. It is 6 um (micro-meters) in diameter. It occupies 10% of the volume of the cell, it is has a cell membrane that is doubled layered.

  • Outer
  • Inner

The outer is continuous with the extracellular space.

Nucleosome = deoxy-ribonucleic acid (DNA) + histone

The inner membrane makes contact with the nucleoplasm, the nucleoplasm contain chromosomes and nucleolus. The nucleolus is the condensation of the Ribonucleic acid (RNA). The chromosome bears the DNA. The DNA contains genes, genes code for amino acids.

RELEVANCE OF CELL NUCLEUS TO ORGANISM SURVIVAL

It is controls cell division and regulation of metabolic activities of the cell.
