Have you ever been so afraid of failing at something that you decided not to try at all
Have you ever been so afraid of failing at something that you decided not to try at all?One of the biggest obstacles to reaching our goals is fear. Fear is an emotion that overrides our intelligence. It stops us from moving toward our goals, and it plays havoc with our quality of life. People often fail to recognize the impact of fear sometimes because we don't even use the word.

Now before I continue let me tell you a little story I came across on my research on Fear.

"Johnny and Tunde dived into a lake one day, challenging each other to swim across a distance of about two miles. They swam with a strong and steady stroke, and the lead swimmer, not looking back, continued swimming on toward the other shore.

When he emerged on the shore after completing his swim, he looked back to see that his friend was nowhere near. When they met back up, Johnny asked, “How was it that you did not follow me across?”

Tunde who couldn't finish the race said, “Oh, after I got about halfway out, I looked back and saw how far I had come, and I was afraid I could not make it, so I turned back.”

“But, johnny said to him couldn’t you see that it was just as hard to turn back to safety as it was to continue swimming to your goal?”

Now comparing this to our everyday life we can tell that most of us back out even before we have the opportunity to start. Fear can severely impact your ability to achieve personal or professional goals, experience happiness or develop a meaningful career. How you deal with it or not will impact your ability to achieve and sustain success.

Research have made me understand that their are three major types of fear when it comes to success.

1. Fear of failure

Right from our childhood we have been thought that failure comes with regret, pain, shame and mockery so we do all our possible best to avoid it and in the course of avoiding it we miss out.

2. Fear of rejection

These are the "what if" kind of people, we have come across great men in history who were reject several times before they were given the opportunity display what they have. Rejection makes you work harder and develop yourself, so you don't have to back out.

3. The Fear of success

How can anyone be afraid of success? Fear of success is real. Success comes with little changes, and it can bring an unwelcomed spotlight of attention and many new detractors. The more successful you become, the more you get noticed. While getting noticed often brings on more admirers, it also brings on more haters.

Now how can you overcome this fears so you can hit your success.

1. Build self-discipline

2. Develop self-confidence

3. Master motivation

4. Avoid procrastination

5. Conquer your fears and achieve you success.

One of the biggest obstacles to reaching our goals is fear and sometimes you have to conquer your fears to achieve your goals.
