I STOOD AGAINST SEN. GEORGE AKUME DURING ELECTION, HE STOOD BY ME WHEN I WAS IN DETENTION
I STOOD AGAINST SEN. GEORGE AKUME DURING ELECTION, HE STOOD BY ME WHEN I WAS IN DETENTION.

In 1999 I got interested in politics through the prodding of the very best politicians in the Land, one of them is Sen. Dr. George Akume, former Governor of Benue State from 1999 to 2007, Senator from 2007 to 2019 now Honourable Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Duties.

Along the line I got dissatisfied with the State of development in our very Local Government Tarka, expectations were so high on Sen. George Akume to turn around the fortunes of his LGA because to whom much is given much is required, as a virgin Local Government that produced Governor for eight years, Senator for twelve years we expected a turnaround development more than what is currently on ground.

I felt uncomfortable and decided to go weird against Sen. George Akume, I criticized him openly, I maliciously insulted his sensibility, I mobilized and canvassed support against him and his party APC, his senatorial ambition was truncated, I nefariously discolored his good reputations with hope that if he is removed things will get better because we were told that he is the brain behind our backwardness in Benue State, I never knew that I was working against my blood.

I stood against Sen. George Akume for the purpose of ensuring effective and sustainable development most especially in Tarka LGA which I will never regret my actions, I openly supported Gov. Samuel Ortom and his Party PDP with great hope that if Sen. Akume is domesticated things will get better, I never knew that was supporting from frying pan to fire decision.

On the 16th of March this year I was tracked and arrested in Jos Plateau State by Men of the Nigerian Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Benue State Command based on the petition filed by Barr. Samuel Irabor, Gov. Samuel Ortom's lawyer. The petitioner accused me of;

(1) Cyber Crime.

(2) Cultism.

(3) Armed Robbery.

(4) Kidnapping.

(5) Terrorism.

(6) Intimidating the Governor.

(7) Harassing the Governor.

(8) Embarrassing the Governor and

(9) Inciting the General Public against the Governor.

The Police swiftly obtained detention warrant from Chief Magistrate Court to detain me for 14 days without taking me to court, I was moved from State CID straight to Makurdi Prison for remand where I spent 73 days. While I was in Prison, Sen. George Akume's attention was drawn to my quandary and immediately he instructed his lawyers to ensure my bail. People around the Hon. Minister were happy and expected him to be happy about my arrest but he disappointed them.

Shortly after I was liberated from Prison, Sen. Akume put a call across to me around 2am midnight a week after, we spoke about 1hr 45 minutes about issues of life, he spoke calmly, his words were so comforting like morning bliss, he consoled me with varieties of idioms and proverbs, he tenderly said "Atsar Gundu my Prince please forgive and forget."

27th of December is the day a Man with a Gold Heart was born and I am happy to be part of millions of well wishers to celebrate this great Man of our time, Dear Baba Dajoh as you celebrate your 68th birthday may the good Lord bless you, I pray for long life and prosperity. The only thought that gives some of us mental strength is that you’re always there to support people in any situation despite their wrong doings against you. Words alone cannot express how grateful I am, I look forward to celebrate you at 100 year.
