UNIBEN offers student scholarships for picking and returning a missing wallet.

The management of the University of Benin has commended a 200-level student of the Department of Microbiology for his exemplary behavior.

UNIBEN offers student scholarship for examplary behavior.

In a statement it was noted that the student, Philip Okafor had found a wallet containing a huge amount of money that belonged to another student but instead of keeping the money for himself, he searched for the owner and returned it to the owner with all the contents intact.

Two months after, the good Samaritan student could not meet up to pay his school fees before his exam.

He met the dean asking for help and grace to be allowed to write his exams with the promise to make payment the next session.

However, the Dean instead offered him scholarship for the rest of his studies in the school.

The Dean, N. E. J. Orhue, said that that was his way of appreciation to him for setting a good example, he also urged other students and youths to emulate his examplary behavior.

The Dean thanked also offered him unrestricted access to his office anytime.

It was also recorded that no one has ever received the Dean’s Special Prize for Exemplary Behaviour thereby making Okafor the first recipient in the history of UNIBEN.
