Match Highlights: Italy 1:1 Spain (4:2 on penalties)

Italy advanced to the European Championship final where they will face England or Denmark after eliminating Spain through penalty shootouts.

Italy who have been the standout team of the tournament so far failed to win a game (including extra time) for the first time in the tournament.

They did however advance after scoring all their penalties in the shootout.

A high profile game had both teams on the edge with Spain dominating possession but having little penetration against a compact Italian team.

Federico Chiesa gave Italy a 60th minute lead with a fine goal from distance which left Unai Simon motionless.

Olmo and Morata combined to restore parity in the 80th minute. No team could find a winner in extra time and after the two players that gave Spain the equaliser both missed their shootouts, Jorginho rooted Simon to a place to send Italy to the final.
