BABA IJESHA: Yomi Fabiyi Still Tackling Princess, Iyabo Ojo; Gets Summoned by TAAMPAN

Nigerian filmmaker and actor, Yomi Fabiyi has been consistently quite active in support and defense of Baba Ijesha after his arrest over child sexual abuse accusations, which has prompted most Nigerians to speculate that he is being directly in support of child molestation.

Earlier this year, Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha, was caught on CCTV camera getting intimate with a minor. According to the girl, this had been going on for years.

Yomi Fabiyi has, before now, called for the prosecution of the adults who captured the child molestation evidence on camera, claiming to be fighting against all abuses and assaults done to the child. And right now, he is set to release a new movie on the case.

The movie, which is titled, Oko Iyabo, looks to tackle the details surrounding the case “objectively”. Nigerians are still not having it with the project though, and are quite irritated by the brazen attempt to paint Baba Ijesha as an innocent victim, and his prosecutors as schemers. One of the actors who was most vocal in advocating for the girl child has even been portrayed necessarily as coming from a broken home.

The film has adopted real life names of all characters involved in the case, suggests that the underage girl gave consent in the relationship with Baba Ijesha, and that Nigerian actor, Princess, who is the girl’s foster mother, only planned to set the accused up.

Yomi Fabiyi, and a host of other Nollywood stars like Adewale Elesho and Lola Idije are some of those involved in the project.

The Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (TAMPPAN) has already summoned Yomi Fabiyi over the project, yesterday, in a statement titled, ‘”Oko Iyabo” TAMPAN summons Yomi Fabiyi.’

The statement read:
“The TAMPAN Committee on Ethics, Conflict and Resolution wishes to inform the general public that the association has summoned Mr. Yomi Fabiyi who is the Producer/Director of the controversial film titled “OKO IYABO” to appear before it on Thursday 11th July 2021.
“This invitation becomes very necessary because of the controversy that the subject matter of his film has generated which is against our ethic and virtue.
“Despite that, we realize that the film has sparked off another round of public dissension that may bring polemic against TAMPAN and our good members if we fail to nip the bud of the controversy.
“We hereby implore the general public and the parties concerned to please exercise patience as our eminent association is on top of this issue and will certainly ensure fairness and justice.”
