37-year-old mother gave birth to 10 babies, claims the world's Guinness Record for the most children birthed by one woman at once.

A South African woman, Thamara Sithole, age 37, has broken the world's Guinness Record for the most children birthed by one woman at once as she gave birth to 10 babies ; 7 boys and 3 girls.

According to South African local media, Gosiame, Thamara Sithole delivered her 10 babies through caesarian operation.

Her delivery comes just a month after Halima Cisse, a Malian woman who was the previous Record-holder for the most children birthed by one woman at once gave birth to nine children in Morocco.

The Gosiame further reported that Sithole, her husband Teboho Tsotetsi and her doctors were expecting six babies at first then during the later period of the pregnancy, the scan showed eight babies missing two babies.

It was after the birth that the actual number of the babies were known. The two that was missed in the scan were tucked inside the wrong tube.

In the interview carried out some days before her delivery Sithole recounted her experiences.
She said :

“I am shocked by my pregnancy. It was tough at the beginning. I was sick. It was hard for me. It’s still tough but I am used to it now. I don’t feel the pain anymore, but it’s still a bit tough. I just pray for God to help me deliver all my children in a healthy condition, and for me and my children to come out alive. I would be pleased about it,”
Sithole told local media.

According to africannews.com, Tsotetsi said Sithole gave birth to their bundles of joy 7 months and 1 week into her pregnancy and the babies have to spend some time in the incubator.

Sithole also explained that her pregnancy was natural as she was not on any fertility treatment.

After her delivery, her husband Tsotetsi couldn't condone his joy as he was interviewed. He said that he was happy and emotional and couldn't talk much.

"It’s seven boys and three girls. She was seven months and seven days pregnant. I am happy. I am emotional. I can’t talk much. Let’s talk again in the morning please,” Tsotetsi said.

The couple who has already had six-year-old twins, broke the good news of the birth of the decuplets late on Monday night.
