The New Trophy revealed - UEFA.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) reveals the new trophy that teams across Europe will battle for in the Europa Conference League.

The Europa Conference League (ECL) was introduced with the purpose of creating entertainment and also to give more teams across Europe the chance to compete for continental silverware, with the winner also earning a place in the Europa League the following seasons.

The trophy stands 57.5cm tall and weighed 11kg. It consists of 32 curved spines one for each side in the group stage of the competition.

The curved shape of the ECL can be described with respect to the unpredictable nature of the competitors, which clearly reflected in the curved spines on the trophy.

A total of about 184 teams has been listed that will compete for the trophy, which includes at least one from each of the 55 member associations of UEFA.

The UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin in his statement explained that one of the most important aims of creating ECL is to create opportunities and chances for clubs.
It read in parts,
“We want to make our competitions more inclusive – to give clubs and fans the chance to dream and compete for European honours,”

“This is why we created the UEFA Europa Conference League. We have 55 national associations who make up UEFA, and it is important to give clubs from as many federations as possible, the chance to prolong their European campaigns for as long as possible.”

The Competition will take place on August 14, Thursday night.
